Voices: A savage attack in a much-changed Turkey
It was seven years ago that I first visited Turkey. The country I encountered no longer exists.The country’s leader, then-prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was being held up as a democratic reformer. Turkey’s economy was booming, especially when compared with Europe, which was still reeling from the 2008 financial crisis.
