Bio:

Gemma is a German journalist in Berlin who specializes in foreign policy and Eastern Europe. She studied political science and Slavic studies in Munich and worked as news editor for the daily newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau. She has been a foreign correspondent for German newspapers in Belgrade, Israel and the Palestinian territories. She authored the book  “Gasprom: The power from the pipeline” and is executive director of the Uzbekistan Press Freedom Group, which publishes the news site www.uznews.net. Gemma serves as a board member of the German section of Reporters Without Borders.
